
Banana – Free Pattern
Size
When using the recommended hook size, yarn, the yarn under method (x stitch), the banana measures 3.5 inches/8.89 centimeters.
Materials
Materials needed to create the toy in order to replicate my toy:
- Crochet hook size: 5 mm hook
- Yarn used: Bulky Weight Chenille Yarn (Weight 5)- (Ivory and Yellow)
- Stuffing
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker (optional)
Banana
Use Yellow. Stuff as you go.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (sc, inc) x 3. [9]
Round 3: 9 sc. [9]
Round 4: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 2, sc. [12]
Round 5: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Round 6: 12 sc, (dec) x 3. [15]
Rounds 7-10: 15 sc. [15] (4 rounds)
Change to Ivory. Leave the yellow yarn hanging on the outside.
Round 11: BLO, 15 sc. [15]
Rounds 12-13: 15 sc. [15] (2 rounds)
Round 14: (3 sc, dec) x 3. [12]
Round 15: 12 sc. [12]
Round 16: sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 2, sc. [9]
Round 17: (sc, dec) x 3. [6]
Cut yarn and weave end through the remaining front loops.
Banana Peel
Use Yellow. Join yarn in FLO from round 10 of the banana, with the yellow part facing away from you. (picture 1)
Round 1: 15 sc. [15]
Round 2: We will be working the first banana peel. 7 sc, turn (we aren’t chaining 1). [7]
Round 3: skip the first st, 6 sc, turn. [6]
Round 4: skip the first st, 5 sc, turn. [5]
Round 5: skip the first st, 4 sc, turn. [4]
Round 6: skip the first st, 3 sc, turn. [3]
Round 7: skip the first st, 2 sc, ch1 and turn. [2]
Round 8: working around the side of the peel to get back to round 1. 2 sc across, 5 sc down the side of the peel.
Repeat rounds 2-7 for the second peel.
Round 8: working around the edge of the two peels. 2 sc across, 5 sc down the side of the peel, sl st in the center st, 5 sc down the side of the peel. Sl st to first st.
Cut yarn and weave in end.
Attach yarn on the other side of the second peel and make 5 sc along the edge. Sl st to first st.
Cut yarn and weave in end.
