
Butterfly – Free Pattern

Size
When using the recommended hook size, yarn, the yarn under method (x stitch), the butterfly measures 11 inches/28 centimeters.
Materials
Materials needed to create the toy in order to replicate my toy:
- Crochet hook size: 5.5 mm hook
- Yarn used: Premier Parfait Chunky (Lilac) and Premier Bloom Chenille (Tulip)
- Stuffing
- Scraps of think black, white and pink yarn
- Black embroidery thread
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker (optional)

Abbreviations
- MR – magic ring
- sc – single crochet
- inc – increase
- dec – decrease
- FLO – front loop only
- (…) – Repeat the instruction inside these brackets the given number of times.
- […] – Total number of stitches at the end of the round.
Body
Use Lilac. Stuff as you go.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Round 4: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6. [30]
Round 6: 2 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc) x 5, 2 sc. [36]
Round 7: 36 sc. [36]
Round 8: (5 sc, inc) x 6. [42]
Round 9: 3 sc, inc, (6 sc, inc) x 5, 3 sc. [48]
Rounds 10-16: 48 sc. [48] (7 rounds)
Insert eyes between rounds 12 and 13 with 6 visible stitches in between.
Round 17: 3 sc, dec, (6 sc, dec) x 5, 3 sc. [42]

Cut yarn and weave end through the remaining front loops. Pull tight to close and weave in end.
Wings
Use Tulip, make 2. The wings are not stuffed.

Round 4: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Round 5: 24 sc. [24]

Round 9: (3 sc, dec) x 6. [24]
Rounds 10-11: 24 sc. [24] (2 rounds)
Round 12: sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 5, sc. [18]

Round 14: Flatten and make 6 sc across working through both layers. [6]
Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew the wings to the back of your butterfly.
Embroider black and white eye details on each eye and embroider dark pink cheeks if using safety eyes.
If you would like to add stripes to your butterfly to create a bee like the photo below- make these changes to the body:
Rounds 30-31 – Work a new color these two rounds
Rounds 34-35- Work a new color these two rounds
Rounds 38-40- Work a new color these two rounds
Embroider a nose on your bee between rounds 12 and 13 if you’re using felt eyes or rounds 13-14 if you’re using safety eyes.
Antennas
Use body and wing color.
Start with your wing color.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Rounds 3-5: 12 sc. [12] (3 rounds)
Round 6: (dec) x 6. [6]
Change to your body color.
Stuff the top of the antenna.
Rounds 7-11: 6 sc. [6] (5 rounds)
Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing.
Sew on your butterfly’s head between rounds 5 and 6.
