
Gnome – Free Pattern

Size
When using the recommended hook size, yarn, the yarn under method (x stitch), the gnome measures 4 inches/10.16 centimeters.
Materials
Materials needed to create the toy in order to replicate my toy:
- Crochet hook size: 5 mm hook
- Yarn used: Bulky Weight Chenille Yarn (Weight 5)- (Light Blue, Pink, Ivory, Mint)
- Scraps of thin black yarn
- Stuffing
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker (optional)
Body/Hat
Use Light Blue. Stuff as you go.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Round 4: BLO, 18 sc. [18]
Round 5: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Rounds 6-9: 24 sc. [24] (4 rounds)
Round 10: (6 sc, dec) x 3. [21]
Change to Mint
Round 11: 21 sc. [21]
Round 12: BLO, 21 sc. [21]
Round 13: 21 sc. [21]
Round 14: (5 sc, dec) x 3. [18]
Change to Pink
Rounds 15-16: 18 sc. [18] (2 rounds)
Round 17: (4 sc, dec) x 3. [15]
Change to Mint
Round 18: 15 sc. [15]
Round 19: 9 sc, (dec) x 3. [12]
Round 20: 6 sc, (dec) x 3. [9]
Change to Pink
Round 21: 9 sc. [9]

Cut yarn and weave end through remaining front loops.
Hat Brim
Use Mint. Turn your gnome upside down so the hat is facing you. The chain 2 does not count as a stitch.
Round 1: Join yarn in the FLO from round 11 (picture 2), ch 2. 21 hdc, join and ch 2. [21]
Round 2: (6 hdc, hdc inc) x 3, join and ch 1. [24]
Round 3: (sc, sk next stitch, 5dc in next stitch, sk next stitch) x 5, sc, sk next stitch, 5dc in next stitch, sl st to first st. [42]
Cut yarn and weave in end.
Nose
Use Ivory. Stuff lightly.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: 12 sc. [12]
Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing.
Arms
Use Ivory and Light Blue, make 2. Stuff arm lightly (I used the extra yarn tails)
Start with Ivory
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: 6 sc. [6]
Change to Light Blue
Rounds 3-5: 6 sc. [6] (3 rounds)
Round 6: Flatten and 3 sc across. [3]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing.
Beard
Use Ivory. Leave a long starting tail. Do not ch 1 at the end of each row.
Row 1: Ch 7, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, 6 sc, turn. [6]
Row 2: skip first stitch, 5 sc, turn. [5]
Row 3: skip first stitch, 4 sc, turn. [4]
Row 4: skip first stitch, 3 sc, turn. [3]
Row 5: skip first stitch, 2 sc, turn. [2]
Row 6: skip first stitch, 1 sc, turn. [1]
Row 7: sc around the edge of the beard with an inc in the top 2 corners.
Cut yarn and weave in end.
Assembly
- Sew beard right under the brim of the hat.
- Sew the nose centered at the top of the beard.
- Sew the arms two rounds down from the brim of the hat.
