
Mini Dog – Free Pattern

Size
When using the recommended hook size, yarn, the yarn under method (x stitch), the Mini Dog measures 5.5 inches/13.97centimeters.
Materials
Materials needed to create the toy in order to replicate my toy:
- Crochet hook size: 5.5 mm hook
- Yarn used: Premier Parfait Chunky (Toffee and Cream)
- Scraps of black yarn (I used cotton yarn)
- 15 mm safety eyes
- Stuffing
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker (optional)
Abbreviations
- MR – magic ring
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- hdc- half double crochet
- dc- double crochet
- inc – increase
- dec – decrease
- FLO – front loop only
- BLO- back loop only
- (…) – Repeat the instruction inside these brackets the given number of times.
- […] – Total number of stitches at the end of the round.
Head
Use Toffee. Stuff as you go.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Round 4: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Round 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6. [30]
Round 6: 2 sc, inc, (4 sc, inc) x 5, 2 sc. [36]
Rounds 7-13: 36 sc. [36] (7 rounds)
Insert safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10, with 4 visible stitches in between.
Round 14: 2 sc, dec, (4 sc, dec) x 5, 2 sc. [30]
Round 15: (3 sc, dec) x 6. [24]
Round 16: sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 5, sc. [18]
Don’t finish off- move onto the body.
Body
Use Toffee.
Round 17: FLO, 18 sc. [18]
Round 18: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Rounds 19-20: 24 sc. [24] (2 rounds)
Round 21: (3 sc, inc) x 6. [30]
Rounds 22-25: 30 sc. [30] (4 rounds)
Round 26: (3 sc, dec) x 6. [24]
Round 27: sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 5, sc. [18]
Round 28: (sc, dec) x 6. [12]
Round 29: (dec) x 6. [6]
Cut yarn and weave in end.
Ears
Use Toffee and Cream- make 1 in each color. The ears aren’t stuffed.
Round 1: 5 sc in MR. [5]
Round 2: (inc) x 5. [10]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 5. [15]
Rounds 4-13: 15 sc. [15] (10 rounds)
Round 14: (sc, dec) x 5. [10]
Round 15: Flatten and 5 sc across. [5]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing.
Tail
Start with Cream. Lightly stuff as you go.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Rounds 2-3: 6 sc. [6] (2 rounds)
Change to Toffee
Rounds 4-7: 6 sc. [6] (4 rounds)
Round 8: Flatten and 3 sc across. [3]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing.
Muzzle
Use Cream.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) × 6. [12]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing
Arms
Make 1 arm in Toffee and 1 arm in Cream.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Rounds 3-4: 12 sc. [12] (2 rounds)
Round 5: (dec) x 3, 6 sc. [9]
Round 6: (2 sc, dec) x 2, sc. [7]
Start stuffing.
Rounds 7-11: 7 sc. [7] (5 rounds)
Stop stuffing at round 8.
Round 12: sc (adjust as needed to get to the side of the arm), flatten and 3 sc across (going through both layers). [3]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing.
Book Pages
Use Toffee.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: (3 sc, inc) x 3. [15]
Rounds 4-5: 15 sc. [15] (2 rounds)
Round 6: (dec) x 4, 7 sc. [11]
Round 7: (dec) x 2, 7 sc. [9]
Start stuffing.
Rounds 8-14: 9 sc. [9] (7 rounds)
Stop stuffing at round 11.
Round 15: sc (adjust as needed to get to the side of the leg), flatten and 4 sc across (going through both layers). [4]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
- Sew the muzzle to the head between rounds 9 and 12.
- Sew ears between rounds 4 and 5 on either side of the head.
- Sew the legs to the bottom of the body between rounds 26 and 29.
- Sew the arms to the sides of the body between rounds 17 and 18.
- Sew the tail between rounds 23 and 25.
- Embroider a nose with black cotton yarn.
