Size
When using the recommended hook size, yarn, the yarn under method (x stitch), the sun measures 5 inches/12.7 centimeters.
Materials
Materials needed to create the toy in order to replicate my toy:
- Crochet hook size: 5 mm hook
- Yarn used: Bulky Weight Chenille Yarn (Weight 5)- (Yellow)
- Scraps of thin black yarn
- Stuffing
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker (optional)
Rays
Use Yellow, make 6. Rays are not stuffed.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: 6 sc. [6]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 3. [9]
Rounds 4-5: 9 sc. [9] (2 rounds)
Round 6: Flatten and 4 sc across. [4]
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Sun
Use Yellow. Stuff as you go.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Round 4: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Rounds 5-6: 24 sc. [24] (2 rounds)
Round 7: Join the rays this round. (4 sc through both the ray and sun) x 6. [24]
Rounds 8-9: 24 sc. [24] (2 rounds)
Round 10: sc, dec, (2 sc, dec) x 5, sc. [18]
Round 11: (sc, dec) x 6. [12]
Round 12: (dec) x 6. [6]
Cut yarn and weave end through the remaining front loops.
Embroider eyes and a smile.
