
Teacup – Free Pattern
Everyone needs a tiny glass of tea. It’s good for the soul.
Size
When using the recommended hook size, yarn, the yarn under method (x stitch), the teacup measures 1.5 inches/3.8 centimeters.
Materials
Materials needed to create the toy in order to replicate my toy:
- Crochet hook size: 5 mm hook
- Yarn used: Bulky Weight Chenille Yarn (Weight 5)- (Bright Pink, Ivory, Mint)
- 8 mm safety eyes
- Scraps of thin black yarn
- Stuffing
- Darning needle
- Stitch marker (optional)
Cup
Use Pink
Round 1: 8 sc in MR. [8]
Round 2: (inc) x 8. [16]
Round 3: BLO, 16 sc. [16]
Round 4: (sc, inc) x 8. [24]
Rounds 5-7: 24 sc. [24]
Round 8: FLO, 24 sc. [24]
Don’t finish off your yarn yet. We are going to make the handle now.
Sl st into the next stitch. Ch 8, starting in the second chain from the hook, 7 sc. Sl st to the next st on the cup.
Cut yarn and leave a tail to sew the handle. Weave the yarn through the top of the cup and sew the bottom of the handle down.
Insert eyes between rounds 5 and 6 with 3 visible stitches in between. Embroider a smile. FO and weave in end.
Bottom of Cup
Use Pink.
Round 1: Turn your cup upside down. Join yarn in the FLO from round 2. 16 sc, sl st to the first st.
Cut yarn and weave in end.
Teabag
Use Mint
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Sl st to first stitch. Ch 3.
Cut yarn and leave a tail for sewing.
Tea
Use Ivory.
Round 1: 6 sc in MR. [6]
Round 2: (inc) x 6. [12]
Round 3: (sc, inc) x 6. [18]
Round 4: sc, inc, (2 sc, inc) x 5, sc. [24]
Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing. Sew tea in the BLO from round 7 of the cup. Sew the teabag in as you’re sewing and lightly stuff teacup before you finish sewing.
